This is a response to one of those truth or dare items your blog friends send you. It's a little off the spec list and I am unable to pick out enough people to follow through on the rest of it. I will include it though because a lady asked where I had my picture put on my shirt. When my expression gave me away she paused in horror and asked : that IS YOU isn't it ? Well, it's more like Ernest Hemingway says I but what the hell...At least the guy wrote something. It's not like I was wearing a shirt with Santa or ZZ Top on it so I guess I could have done a little worse. Becky, I forgive you.

Having a long history of hoof in mouth remarks myself, I can sympathize. Like you said, at least the guy wrote a bit and if I remember the story, you were in the vicinity of Key West in December while everyone at home was digging out. Like DC used to say- make sure the brain is in gear before opening your mouth!

never been to key west. did go on a decidedly mild trip to key largo in high school for a marine bio course. highlight was seeing an endangered giant turtle while snorkeling.

tpnb you notice i spared you the offering i was supposed to send it to a bunch of people but I demurred ! Hey have you ever read anything of David Foster Wallace ? I just picked up his book A supposedly fun thing I'll never do again the title piece is his assignment for Harper's where he take s luxury cruise of the Caribbean. hilarious. Sadly, though., he did himself in this fall but the piece reads differently now that I have done a cruise and I know he's committed suicide, there are fingerprints of his despair all over the thing.
