I'm sure she's very bright and could probably do a great job...blah blah blah...but can we use some other criteria for replacing Senator Clinton besides a family tie to the party ? Is this such an unremarkable, gene pool shallow country that we needed 2 Bush presidencies, nearly the same number of Clintons and now another Kennedy ? Listening to Ed Schultz today on the radio I was amazed to hear him bemoaning the possible radio talk show being handed to Fred Richardson by an owner who decided Fred had the right stuff ahead of a lot of harder working radio pros. Big Eddie went as far as calling this talk radio affirmative action. Yet when the topic of Caroline asking for and being handed this Senator gig by a starstruck Governor Patterson, ahead of Andrew Cuomo and Brian Higgins, among others, Schultz pooh poohed the idea that there was anything amiss in handing this position to Caroline Kennedy who has virtually no experience in the ways of the US Senate. Although he didn't come out and say so it was clear that she was the one for the job because her last name was Kennedy. As a rookie won't she be getting wedgies and leaners against her apartment door plus getting stuck with the lunch tab by the veterans ? O.k. maybe I have my sports mixed up.

Our own newspaper had a front page story about who people would rather see in the senate seat and the choices were Andrew Cuomo or Caroline. How is it that even in our area no mention was made of Brian Higgins or Louise Slaughter? Louise said on the radio that she would prefer to keep the job she has in the House as the head of the Rules committee but she has far more experience and political savvy and isn't mentioned. Caroline was here a little bit ago on an "informational tour" and some reporters had the nerve to ask her questions. The expression "deer in the headlights" came immediately to mind. She had no idea questions would be asked and had no answers to relatively easy questions. I've no doubt she's intelligent and could learn the job, but our area is in enough trouble and we don't need a rookie learning the ropes while we swing in the wind. Caroline stepped up and helped Barak get elected so he'd like to see her get the seat and she thinks she'd like to try it. I would too now that I have the time- who should I call?
Call Dad and give him hell for not being a Kennedy !
I am afraid she would do as well as Hillary, which wasn't horrible but not mind blowing great either. It just makes Dem's look lame at a time when I just wish we wouldn't. This whole BS over filling Barak's seat is just the stuff that makes me cringe because it's hard to defend. I feel like I've spent the past 8 years waiting for this moment to be proud and now, we're just doing what they would do. It's lame.
